Read & Wallace Win Spring Chicken 2 Man
Josh Read and Aaron Wallace (pictured) won the Spring Chicken 2 Man Scramble
at Wayne County Golf Course on Saturday. Championship flight runners up were
Steve and Kyle Dawkins.
Eldon Doty and Steve Gustison won B flight with Brad Bryan and Doug Musgrave
taking second prize.
C flight winners were Clifford Reever and Bruce Reeves with Terry McKinney and
Larry Odum capturing second.
Skins were won by three teams consisting of Richard Scott and Avery Sprehe,
Eldon Doty and Steve Gustison, and Cam Taylor and Jordan Vaughan.
Dee Monge won the 50/50 raffle.
Course Manager Doug Musgrave was thankful for the successful tournament. “We had a nice turn out with about forty players and wonderful weather”, said Musgrave.
Severe Storm Damages Course
A strong storm damaged or uprooted several trees on the golf course on April 19th. Check out pictures of the aftermath in the photo gallery below.
Belangee, Berg, and Hefley Win FNB 3 Person Golf Scramble
Blaith Belangee, J.T. Berg, and Matt Hefley won the Fairfield National Bank 3 Man Scramble at Wayne County Golf Course last weekend, July 23-24. Championship flight runners up were Don, Brent and Karen Sutton.
Philip Powell’s Mt. Vernon trio won B flight with Jason Musgrave, Josh Read and Jordan Vaughan taking second.
C flight winners were Kevin McNeil with the father-son duo of Chris and Colton Simpson. Chuck Griswold, Bruce Reeves and Terry Weedman captured second.
Chuck Griswold won the 50/50 raffle and donated his prize back to the course.
Sunday afternoon’s showers ended play after six holes. Course Manager Doug Musgrave said, “Despite the much needed rain, forty-five players and the two delicious meals served in the club house contributed to a successful outing”.
Wayne County Golf Course Men’s League Final Results for 2011 Season
The Wayne County Golf Course Men’s League finale was held Monday evening, August 15, with the 2011 championship decided by a playoff after the end of regulation on the signature island green 18th hole with a gallery of competitors watching from the new deck adjoining the clubhouse.
The two man team of Brad Bryan and Richard Scott outlasted Jim Musgrave, Jr. and Michael Molt for the league championship after their match resulted in a tie on the back nine.
Jason Musgrave and Wayne Shreve took 3rd place over John King and Charles Taylor who finished 4th place out of twenty teams over eleven weeks of play.
Wayne Shreve is the Men’s League’s most improved league player by shaving off four strokes on his handicap from June 1st through August 15.

Ed Bailey Wins Stableford Golf Tourney at WCGC
Ed Bailey won the 2nd Annual Fall Stableford Tournament held Saturday, September 24, at Wayne County Golf Course with 26 points. Don Sutton placed 2nd with 24 points over Jerry Vaughan’s 22 points taking 3rd.
“Chef” Chuck Griswold served his delicious vegetable-beef soup for lunch. The 18-hole individual tournament was completed in the afternoon despite the rainy weekend conditions the night before and rest of the weekend.
Bailey, a long time member, was thrilled with the win. He humbly shared afterwards “that after all these years of playing over here, this is the first time I’ve ever won”.
